Nothing but the Blood - 9. Preview for One

Brigid from @wingandaprayerf is safe     From Nothing but the Blood Audio
[God] said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”  —Genesis 22

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we’ve been burning through this material. Out of 1,189 chapters in Scripture, we're 22 chapters in and the Gospel has been revealed except for one crucial point.

Through this series, we have seen how:

1. blood is the way back, but
2. there’s a heart piece, except that
3. even the righteous fall short, so
4. God will stand in the gap because
5. One, the right One, can cover for all.

Any idea where the land of Moriah is? A three day journey, many (including me) believe that Moriah is the site of modern day . . .

Nothing but the Blood - 8. One, the Right One

Abraham and Jesus at Mamre     From Nothing but the Blood Audio
The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed? For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.” And the Lord said, “The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”  —Genesis 18

What happens right after a story pivots? Think of the end of The Usual Suspects or the moment when the truth is revealed by the little boy in The Sixth Sense—the boy who said, “I see dead people.”

When a story pivots, a character that you thought you knew before becomes more fully known.

The Gospel Story is no different, but . . .

Isaiah 6, Genesis18, Hebrews 13, Nothing But the Blood, Abram & Abraham, Revelation 22, Genesis 16, Genesis 17, Genesis 32, Exodus 13, Exodus 24, Judges 13, Genesis 19, Isaiah 59, Jeremiah 5, Ezekiel 22

Nothing but the Blood - 7. Abram Sees God Pivot Scripture

Abram Sees God Pivot Scripture     From Nothing but the Blood Audio
It came about when the sun had set, that it was very dark, and behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a flaming torch which passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram . . . —Genesis 15

You’re not going to believe this, but the entirety of Scripture pivots on this story that we never even talk about. Why? Well, because it’s weird and we don’t really have a context for it today.

But I guarantee you’ll never forget this story again.

Genesis 15, Nothing But the Blood, Genesis 11, Abram & Abraham, Genesis 12, Genesis 13, Genesis 14, Hebrews 7
